History

Helping Other People through Empowerment, Inc. was founded in 2001 to meet the growing number of socialization needs for the mentally ill in Baltimore.  HOPE developed into an organization where the mentally ill could meet and not feel socially awkward or ostracized.  The participant run drop-in center provides a safe meeting place and resource center for the homeless.  Today participants work to help other participants find shelter, join in various leisure activities, and link to case management services.
